Nicaragua - Ortega's repression deepens

Ortega stole democracy long ago, but the most recent wave of repression is particularly difficult for his political opponents. The private sector may be next.

Two weeks ago I wrote about the situation in Nicaragua and it has only gotten worse. Five opposition politicians including the leading presidential candidates have been detained. Some have been reportedly abused.
