Haiti - A stagnant political and security crisis

This time next week, Jovenel Moïse will be a de facto and illegitimate president. But in spite of protests, a weak economy and a kidnapping wave, he has the ability to hold on.

Most analysts and legal scholars believe that the presidential term for President Jovenel Moïse ends this weekend. Moïse has refused to hold new elections and insists that he is president of Haiti until February 2022.
