Bukele's inauguration, Guatemala's election and Nicaragua's political crisis create new divisions the region

Caravans of migrants and refugees leaving the Northern Triangle of Central America over the past year have highlighted the poor conditions in the region. People leave for a variety of overlapping reasons, primarily poverty and concerns about violent crime. Weak government institutions and corruption contribute to the economic and security challenges.
